Saying No

Saying no to work requests is close to impossible in my current position.  I'm not sure if it comes from my sense of loyalty, an obligation to keep the hand that feeds me full of chow, or my people pleasing mentality.  Perhaps, I need to stop focusing on the no (and the lack of nos).  In those few moments when I have said "no," it has been taken as a starting point of negotiation.  My "no" obviously means "maybe" and eventually "yes" to them.  Saying "yes" to them means that I am saying "No" to my goals, my ambitions, and my priorities.  I need to start saying yes to myself.  Which is much easier to type and much more difficult to do.

If I had my best interest in mind, I wouldn't be 241 pounds.
